Manager, Development & Marketing Technology

Aspen Technologies is a growing IT consulting firm with headquarters in Pennsylvania. Our client in Pittsburgh, a national media and advertising firm, is looking for an exceptional individual to not only lead, but transform the digital development team.  We are assisting them in the search for the best person to assume this responsibility. This is a permanent, full-time position with our client.

As the leader of the development group, the Development Manager manages the tools, people, and processes of the group to leverage technology and provide amazing experiences and marketing solutions on behalf of our clients. We are looking for a “maker” mentality, a technical leader who gets excited about mentoring and leading developers as well as solving varied and complex technical problems.  The Manager of Development and Marketing Technology is expected to set the tone and standards for how the group executes and manages development, and is responsible for constantly evolving and maturing the development capabilities of the group. In addition to setting the group’s tone and direction, the Manager is also responsible for aggressively managing the satisfaction of clients (internal and external), as well as translating technology challenges and opportunities for non-technical stakeholders.


  • Establish the groups development standards, best practices, and methodologies
  • Help define and scope projects accurately, as well as deliver within budgeted hours
  • Coach and help manage the professional development of interactive developers and production resources
  • Help define and evolve the groups capabilities based on emerging client challenges and opportunities as well as evolving agency capabilities
  • Develop, coordinate, and evolve quality assurance (testing) procedures to ensure error-free work product
  • Be the primary technical ambassador and liaison to the account teams, monitoring expectations and perceptions, and identifying technical opportunities and solutions on behalf of client and account teams.
  • Provide POVs and strategic technical assessments, recommendations and solution selection for clients
  • Define development environment, source management, change control, release management
  • Work closely with the design and UX groups to develop best in class web properties and digital experiences


Eight to ten years of experience in interactive agency or web development environment

Experience leading a development team or complex multi-developer projects

Advanced knowledge of web site and web application development
